Peter Freeman

Born: 1956. Nationality: British.

Peter Freeman was born in Manchester; he obtained a B.A. in Fine Art from Bristol Polytechnic in 1979 and an M.A. in Fine Art from Goldsmith's College, London in 1991.  He moved to Cornwall in 1993.

He made his first light pieces during his undergraduate course, an interest which was consolidated during a gap year spent in Las Vegas where the dazzling neon architecture inspired him to undertake two-years of training in neon glass-blowing on his return to the UK.  He began producing light sculptures and architectural lighting installations, eventually extending the range of light technologies to LED, fibre optics and sophisticated interactive systems.

His many public commissions include sculptures and installations at the Exchange Gallery, Penzance (2007), the University of Creative Arts, Farnham (2007), the Hub Piazza in Milton Keynes (2007), Junction 21 M5 Motorway - Weston super Mare (2004), Rochdale Town Centre (2003), Gallery Oldham (2006), Winchester Cathedral (2002) and Tate St Ives (1995).
