Born Connecticut 1928. Died 2007. A leading figure of Minimalism. Lewitt was interested in exploring the relationship between art and space, through serialisation, repetition and progression. His work is consequently characterised by rigorous arrangements of shape and colour. He had many influences including his contemporary Frank Stella, a print by whom is also in the collection.
