Graduation Day Crèche FAQs

Please read these FAQs before booking a place on the crèche and Kids Club and familarise yourself with the Terms and Conditions before booking.

Please note that the places in the crèche and Kids Club are limited and submitting a booking form will not guarantee you a place. Once you have submitted your registration form you will be contacted to confirm your booking.

How do I book a place for my child?

You must complete an on-line registration form on this web site for each child to apply for a place in the crèche and Kids Club. It is important that you complete all of the required fields, and ensure you indicate which session you need. You will not be able to submit the form if the required fields have not been completed. Once the form is submitted you will receive an acknowledgement email to say your application has been received - this does not guarantee you a place in the crèche and Kids Club, places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. You will then receive a second email to confirm whether you have a place or not within two weeks of your on-line application.

Is my child eligible for a place in the crèche and Kids Club?

Children of graduands and their guests are eligible to use the crèche and Kids Club free of charge and it is suitable for children aged 0 - 12 years. [please note there is a maximum number of children that can attend the crèche and Kids Club at any one time]

Where will the crèche and Kids Club take place?

The crèche and Kids Club for the winter 2023 Graduation congregations will be in The Kevin Gately Room (meeting rooms 4 and 5) of the Students Union (SUHQ) Building, above Rootes Grocery.

Who will be looking after my child?

The crèche and Kids Club is being provided by the University Childcare Services, which includes the nursery and holiday schemes. The crèche and Kids Club will be managed by staff of the university who normally work in the nursery. All of the staff looking after the children in the crèche and Kids Club will hold childcare qualifications and will meet the university's robust safer recruitment policy for working with children, including having been checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

When can I drop my child off and at what time should I pick my child up?

If you are attending a morning ceremony you can drop your child off between 9.30 and 10.00am, you must collect your child by 1.00pm. If you are attending an afternoon ceremony you can drop your child off between 1.30 and 2.00pm, you must collect you child by 5.00pm.

If my application for a place is unsuccessful, will there be a waiting list?

Yes, if all of the places have been taken when you apply your details will be held on a standby list. Should a place become available we will contact you to let you know. Again standby places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

What should I do if I am offered a place which I later realise I won't need?

If you have been offered a place in the crèche and Kids Club, which you then won't need, please let Children's Services know by email: nurseryenquiries@warwick.ac.uk or by phone: 024 765 23389 so that the place can be offered to someone else.

What will happen when I drop my child off at the crèche and Kids Club?

Your child will be welcomed into the crèche and Kids Club by a member of staff from the University's Children's Services. Your details will be checked against your registration form and you will be asked to complete a Childcare Receipt Form. [This form will confirm your name, the name of the person who will be responsible for your child on the day - this should not be you if you are the Graduand, and the responsible person's mobile phone number]. We will also ask you to give us a password as an added security measure. You will be given the bottom half of the Childcare Receipt Form. This is your receipt, keep it save, we will not release your child to you without this receipt and your password.

What should my child bring to the crèche and Kids Club?

We will provide a range of toys and activities, which are age appropriate, and keep your child entertained while you are attending your graduation, however, if your child wants to bring something with them to play with you should let them. They can bring hand held electronic toys, etc. but please be aware that we cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage to personal belongings.

If your child is taking formula or breast milk, this should be brought to the crèche in a cool bag as there are no refrigeration facilities. You should also bring spare nappies and wipes and a spare set of clothing, especially if your child is toilet training, or likely to have an accident.

Your child can bring a favourite toy or comforter, but, again, we are not able to take responsibility for any loss or damage.

Will my child have anything to eat or drink while in the crèche and Kids Club?

We will provide water to drink and a light snack of fruit, crackers and sweet biscuits during the session. If your child has any dietary needs, specifically any food allergies, or preferences please make sure you have made a note of this on the registration form.
