What is assertiveness?

Assertiveness is a skill that can be acquired and not a personality trait. It is a way of communicating and behaving with others that helps a person gain confidence and increases self-awareness.

Assertiveness is being able to stand up for yourself, communicating your feelings and opinions in a way that you can be heard and without letting other people always get their way. You can do this without being forceful, rude or losing your temper.

However confident we might be, there are times we find it difficult to deal with certain situations we encounter. For example:
