Salary Costs August 2012

The following figures assume that the employee is in a pension scheme (USS or CRB for scales 5 and above, UPS or DC for scales 1-4) and is also in PensionPlus.

New entrants to USS from 1/10/11 will join the CRB scheme and new entrants to UPS from 1/4/10 will join the DC scheme.

Employer pension contributions are 23.5% for UPS Defined Benefits Scheme (wef 1st April 2012) and 12.5% for UPS Defined Contributions Scheme (assuming the employee opts to contribute the maximum 5%)

Employer pension contributions for USS and CRB are 16% (wef 1st October 2009).

Employer NI contributions are from April 2012.
