Can email be forwarded to another account?

University business should always be conducted from your University-provided email account, which by default will deliver to an Office 365 mailbox.

The use of a personal email account from a third-party provider for University business is inadvisable, and if the content of such messages contains data classified as “personal” for the purposes of GDPR then a personal email account should not be used.

Forward or Redirect?

You should understand the difference between a forward (the forwarded messages will appear to have been forwarded by you, and replies will go to the address you forwarded them from) and a redirect (the messages will appear to have come from the original sender, and replies will go back to the original sender).

Set up in webmail

If you are using webmail aka "OWA", "Outlook Web App (for Office 365)" or "Outlook on the web" -

This actually does create a redirect, despite it being referred to as forwarding in the article and in the menus, and whilst the screenshots don't reflect the Warwick branding on our webmail interface, the instructions are the same. Be sure to select tick option to Keep a copy of forwarded messages.

Set up in Outlook client
