India 2009

In November 2009 the Symphony Orchestra's Chamber Orchestra were invited to play at an Indian wedding in Delhi. As part of the celebration, the entire venue was built from scratch as an outdoor recreation of Venice, including a replica Bridge of Sighs, building facias and a fully operational 300ft canal complete with a Gondola & Gondolier singer! Director of Music, Paul McGrath arranged Bollywood music for classical orchestra and these were played alongside more tradional classical repertoire, to great effect. The group also ran a workshop in one of Delhi's primary schools.

Monte Carlo 2011

In March 2011 the Chamber Orchestra were once again called upon to play for another Indian wedding, but this time in Monte Carlo. 500 guests were flown from Mumbai and all over the world to attend the event at the spectacular Sporting Club, where the headline act was Hip-Hop artist, Akon. The Orchestra played three sets as part of the show, with well known Bollywood pieces including an arrangement of the popular piece Jai Ho (made famous by the film Slumdog Millionaire)
