Free Concert 2016

Every year the Music Centre gives a free concert involving some of its largest groups, which takes place in the Butterworth Hall, Warwick Arts Centre and is FREE OF CHARGE to all audience members.

This year the concert is Weds 12th October, 7.30pm.

We welcome all players and singers to come and take part in one, or even several of the groups, and it's a brilliant way to meet people and get involved in the music scene here at Warwick from day 1!

How do I get involved?

Symphony Orchestra players (so all string players, woodwind, brass and percussion) come along to first rehearsal, Tuesday 4th October 7pm in the Helen Martin Studio, Warwick Arts Centre. Bring yourselves and your instrument and we'll provide the rest! Professionally conducted by the Director and Assistant Director of Music, this large symphony orchestra plays full scale orchestral works, regularly tours and performs in venues locally and around the country. Everyone is welcome at the first rehearsal, and to play in the concert on 12th October. After the Free Concert we will be holding auditions for wind and brass players (Friday 14th October) in the Ensemble Room, Warwick Arts Centre. The orchestra is unauditioned for string players.

Come and have a taster of what the Symphony Orchestra might have to offer you!

Repertoire for Free Concert will be: Strauss Radetsky March, Bizet Carmen overture & Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite as well as providing accompaniment for the Chorus for Dies Irae from both Verdi and Mozart Requiems.

A fun ensemble to be part of, why not come and join them for their first rehearsal Friday 7th October 6pm in the Helen Martin Studio, Butterworth Hall. A further rehearsal takes place Monday 10th October 6pm in the Studio, Warwick Arts Centre and then the concert is on the 12th October.

Brass players and percussionists of all abilities are encouraged to come along to the Brass Band rehearsals and join them as they perform in the Free Concert. They will also be playing a programme of well known music from the stage and screen under the baton of professional conductor and trombonist, Simon Hogg. Their first rehearsal is Weds 5th October 5pm in the Ensemble Room, Music Centre, Warwick Arts Centre. Cornets, tenor horns and other instruments can be provided for those who need them.
