What happens following my application?

If you have not been contacted regarding an assessment centre within eight weeks of the closing date, then this normally means that your application has been unsuccessful.

5. Criminal convictions and cautions

If you have any unspent criminal convictions or have any criminal proceedings pending against you, then please give full details in a separate document, clearly stating your full name, the reference number and the title of the volunteer role for which you are applying. This document should either be sent in an envelope marked ‘Private and confidential’ to the Residential Life Office, detailing your name and the role title, or emailed to residentialteam@warwick.ac.uk, with ‘Criminal conviction information’ as the subject. This envelope/email will only be opened if your application is shortlisted; if you are unsuccessful at this stage, then this envelope/email will be destroyed unopened.

NB – Spent convictions will still have to be declared on this application as the role may involve liaison with vulnerable groups.

The Residential Life Office reserves the right to undertake Disclosure and Barring Service checks as and when required.

  • Please provide supporting information relevant to the Residential Life Team role that you are applying for, outlining any experience, skills and knowledge. You should ensure that you demonstrate this against the personal specification for the role. You should not use more than 500 words.

  • To enable your application to be processed, please also attach your CV in section 8 below, clearly marking both the document and filename with your name and role title.

  • You should also provide details here of anyone who you would plan to have living with you in Residential Life Team accommodation if appointed (with agreement on this and any subsequent changes being subject to the explicit approval of the Senior Wardens).

Please outline in detail your aims and ambitions during your time in the Residential Life Team, if appointed. Please outline the contribution that you would seek to make to the three key roles of the residential system: student support, student development and student discipline and give examples of ideas for proposed activities and approaches where possible. You should not use more than 500 words.

9. Statement of support from line manager/supervisor

In order to proceed with your application we require a statement of support from your current line manager/supervisor. Please forward the information below to your line manager or supervisor and ask them to email residentialteam@warwick.ac.uk to confirm:


  • They support your application to become a member of the Residential Life Team at the University of Warwick.

  • They have read the information on the role and the volunteer framework and expectations and confirm that the duties and expectations are compatible with your substantive role at the University.

  • They acknowledge that this role provides substantial benefit to the University community.

  • They will notify the Senior Wardens should the RLT role have any negative impact on your ability to work or study once you are part of the Residential Life Team. This includes issues such as long term absence, performance etc.

  • Your name and your role/programme of study at the University.
