NSS 2016 results

Your experience and opinions are vital, and that's why we really value your feedback on your course. The NSS is a survey for all final year undergraduate students in the UK. The survey gathers opinion from students about their experience of their course and covers topics around teaching, learning and student support. The results are intended to help future students decide where to study, and to help to ensure that universities are achieving the high standards they set for themselves.

The results are now available to view online. The overall satisfaction rate at Warwick has increased by 1% to 88% (2015: 87%, 2014: 89%, 2013: 87%), compared to no change overall in the UK higher education sector. In three of the six assessment categories, finalists have ranked their experience the same as they did in 2015: Teaching, Assessment and Feedback and Personal Development. Academic Support and Organisation and Management have each increased by 1%. Learning Resources was the only category to drop this year (-3%) and some targeted work will be done to understand and respond to the reasons behind this.

Whilst not at all the only measure of student satisfaction with their experience, surveys such as the NSS are an important indicator of the quality of our teaching and learning, and of how we use survey results to drive genuine improvements. Survey results such as these are considered in conjunction with the full wealth of student-staff engagement and collaboration opportunities available to you, including module-level feedback and Staff Student Liaison Committee (SSLC) discussions. We'll continue to encourage you to engage in these and other developmental opportunities (such as those linked to below) to give us your feedback and help us to drive improvements at Warwick.

A group led by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning will consider our results to help us to prioritise actions in the Autumn Term. We will seek to integrate as much NSS evaluation and action-planning as is possible with the broader Institutional Teaching and Learning Review scheduled to take place in January 2017, and to work with Warwick SU in identifying and addressing priorities for development. Departments will share the results with SSLCs and discusss departmental actions, including the formulation of "you said, we did" and "you said, we will" pledges.

Thank you very much to those of you who give us your feedback through surveys like NSS. Your feedback helps to shape and improve teaching, learning and student support, and we hope you'll continue to let us know your feedback and help us shape the future of Warwick!
