I am particularly interested in the development of methodology for gathering and collating evidence, the role of practitioner evidence for use in research synthesis (including the use of surveys and similar tools to capture practitioner experience) and the use of evidence by practitioners, policy makers and the public. Specific interests include the role of volunteer biodiversity surveyors in contributing to scientific knowledge and understanding; the development of evidence-bases in new disciplines; and the impact of introducing an evidence-based approach on research design, publication and utility of findings. My research interests encompass the following broad areas:
