RESEARCH PROFILE

My research interests include: informal carers of people with motor neurone disease, and of people with dementia, knowledge transfer, patient and public involvement, intensive health visiting programmes, parenting programmes, the use of both qualitative and quantitative methodology, Randomised Control Trials (RCT) and systematic reviews.

BACKGROUND

Since 2009 I have been a Senior Research Fellow with the Royal College of Nursing Research Institute in the School of Health and Social Studies. Prior to this I was a Research Fellow with the National Centre for Involvement in the University of Warwick and a Research Officer with the Department of Public Health at the University of Oxford. I am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECT

I am currently working with a team of international collaborators on the FIRE study (Facilitating Implementation of Research Evidence) - a pragmatic RCT with an embedded process evaluation on the implementation of evidence-based recommendations on continence care in nursing homes. The FIRE study is an international study including England, Republic of Ireland, Sweden and the Netherlands. The study is funded by the European Commission FP7 framework from 2008 to the end of 2012 and is a collaboration of the Universities of Warwick, Bangor, Ulster, Cork (Republic of Ireland), Fontys University (Netherlands), Karolinska Institute (Sweden), University of Alberta (Canada) and University of Adelaide (Australia).
