Simone Griesser is a doctoral candidate in the Marketing Department at Warwick Business School supervised by Prof Qing Wang and Prof Thomas Hills.
Simone researches how language transforms decision-making. Her current research analyses consumer perceptions in Social Media with a computational psycholinguistic approach. Addressing luxury and non-luxury brands, she found a mismatch in communication styles in terms of language abstractness, which influences brand liking and purchase intentions.
She is broadly interested in research topics that lie at the intersection of technology and (consumer) behaviour. In addition, she is interested in studying new ways of leveraging unstructured digital data to generate fresh insights that go beyond topic modelling and frequencies.
Simone is experienced in qualitative, experimental, and quantitative data collection and analysis. She writes scripts in R and Python, but is equally familiar with SPSS or Nvivo and has presented her research at ACR, EMAC and SPSP. Before entering academia, she spent over a decade in industry and thus has a profound understanding and appreciation for business processes and solutions.
